  1. When sharing, be mindful of other people, be concise.

  2. When sharing, try to avoid comments about other people and/or churches. For example: "other people do so-an-so;" or "in other churches, this is what happens...;" or "most people feel..." Rather, say, "I feel …" or "in our church" and "this is what happened in my life." Speak of your own personal experience, rather than what other's have experienced or feel.

  3. If someone shares a problem, do not try to help them resolve it, unless they specifically ask.

  4. Personal information that is shared in the group, stays in the group.

  5. No gossiping (talking about someone who is not present).

Pastor Rob Fischer says that Charles Finney taught these prayer principles to new followers of Christ:

1. Pray short, sentence prayers. (Don’t hog the conversation!)

2. Pray vertically. (We’re not preaching to each other.)

3. Listen to the Holy Spirit and to each other.

4. Piggy-back on each other’s prayers. Stay on a theme until it seems right to move on.

5. Embrace silence as an opportunity to listen to the Holy Spirit, transition to another topic, or process what has been prayed.

6. Believe the best of each other.
