Are you good enough to go to heaven?
Let's examine God's standard through some of the 10 Commandments.
(Reference: Matthew 19:18, Romans 13:9)

Have you lied? - This makes you a liar. The problem is:
- Revelation 21:8 - ...all liars shall have their part in the lake which burns with fire and brimstone,
- Proverbs 12:22 - Lying lips are an abomination to the Lord, ...
Have you stolen? - This makes you a thief.
- Exodus 20:15 - You shall not steal.
Have looked at someone, other than your spouse, with lust? - you have a heart of an adulterer.
- Matthew 5:28 - Jesus said, "I say to you that whoever looks at a woman to lust for her has already committed adultery with her in his heart.
Have you used the Lord's name in vain? - this makes you a blasphemer.
(for example: replacing a curse word with "Jesus)
- Exodus 20:7 - You shall not take the name of the Lord your God in vain, for the Lord will not hold him guiltless who takes His name in vain.

"But I fear, lest somehow, as the serpent deceived Eve by his craftiness, so your minds may be corrupted from the simplicity that is in Christ."

Day of Judgement

God became flesh (Jesus)

John 1:1,14 - In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word was God. ... And the Word became flesh and dwelt among us, ...
Isaiah 9:6 - For unto us a Child is born, unto us a Son is given; and the government will be upon His shoulder. And His name will be called Wonderful, Counselor, Mighty God, Everlasting Father, Prince of Peace.
Matthew 1:23 - Behold, the virgin shall be with child, and bear a Son, and they shall call His name Immanuel,” which is translated, “God with us.”
Philippians 2:8 - And being found in human form, He humbled Himself by becoming obedient to the point of death, even death on a cross.

Jesus paid for our sins on the cross.

1 Peter 3:18 - For Christ also suffered once for sins, the just for the unjust, that He might bring us to God, being put to death in the flesh but made alive by the Spirit,
1 Peter 2:24 - who Himself bore our sins in His own body on the tree, that we, having died to sins, might live for righteousness—by whose stripes you were healed.
2 Corinthians 5:21 - For He made Him who knew no sin to be sin for us, that we might become the righteousness of God in Him.
1 Corinthians 15:3 - ... Christ died for our sins according to the Scriptures,
Isaiah 53:5 - But He was wounded for our transgressions, He was bruised for our iniquities; The chastisement for our peace was upon Him, and by His stripes we are healed.
Romans 5:8 - But God demonstrates His own love toward us, in that while we were still sinners, Christ died for us.
John 19:30 - He said, “It is finished!” And bowing His head, He gave up His spirit.
1 John 2:2 - And He Himself is the propitiation for our sins, and not for ours only but also for the whole world.
Matthew 20:28 - just as the Son of Man did not come to be served, but to serve, and to give His life a ransom for many.”
Colossians 2:14 - having wiped out the handwriting of requirements that was against us, which was contrary to us. And He has taken it out of the way, having nailed it to the cross.

To have eternal life, we must repent and believe in Jesus.

Believe
- John 14:6 - Jesus said to him, “I am the way, the truth, and the life. No one comes to the Father except through Me.
- Acts 4:12 - Nor is there salvation in any other, for there is no other name under heaven given among men by which we must be saved."
- John 3:16 - For God so loved the world that He gave His only begotten Son, that whoever believes in Him should not perish but have everlasting life.
- Romans 6:23 - For the wages of sin is death, but the gift of God is eternal life in Christ Jesus our Lord.
Repent
- Acts 3:19 - Repent therefore and be converted, that your sins may be blotted out, ...
- Acts 17:30 - Truly, these times of ignorance God overlooked, but now commands all men everywhere to repent,
- Acts 26:20 - ... that they should repent, turn to God, and do works befitting repentance.
- Romans 2:4 - Or do you despise the riches of His goodness, forbearance, and longsuffering, not knowing that the goodness of God leads you to repentance?
- 2 Corinthians 7:10 - For godly sorrow produces repentance leading to salvation, not to be regretted; ...
Saved by Faith, not by works
- Ephesians 2:8-9 - For by grace you have been saved through faith, and that not of yourselves; it is the gift of God, 9 not of works, lest anyone should boast.
- Galatians 2:16 - knowing that a man is not justified by the works of the law but by faith in Jesus Christ, even we have believed in Christ Jesus, that we might be justified by faith in Christ and not by the works of the law; for by the works of the law no flesh shall be justified.
- Romans 3:28 - Therefore we conclude that a man is justified by faith apart from the deeds of the law.
- Romans 5:1 - Therefore, having been justified by faith, we have peace with God through our Lord Jesus Christ,
- Romans 4:5 - But to him who does not work but believes on Him who justifies the ungodly, his faith is accounted for righteousness,
- Romans 3:20 - Therefore by the deeds of the law no flesh will be justified in His sight, for by the law is the knowledge of sin.
Our Faith is revealed through our works
- James 2:14-26 - What does it profit, my brethren, if someone says he has faith but does not have works? Can faith save him? If a brother or sister is naked and destitute of daily food, and one of you says to them, “Depart in peace, be warmed and filled,” but you do not give them the things which are needed for the body, what does it profit? Thus also faith by itself, if it does not have works, is dead. But someone will say, “You have faith, and I have works.” Show me your faith without your works, and I will show you my faith by my works. You believe that there is one God. You do well. Even the demons believe—and tremble! But do you want to know, O foolish man, that faith without works is dead? Was not Abraham our father justified by works when he offered Isaac his son on the altar? Do you see that faith was working together with his works, and by works faith was made perfect? And the Scripture was fulfilled which says, “Abraham believed God, and it was accounted to him for righteousness.” And he was called the friend of God. You see then that a man is justified by works, and not by faith only. Likewise, was not Rahab the harlot also justified by works when she received the messengers and sent them out another way? For as the body without the spirit is dead, so faith without works is dead also.
